Laboratory for Advanced Materials Science and Technology (LAMSAT)
Other Available Facilities
Other LAMSAT equipment
LAMSAT members have access to a vast assortment of equipment for constructing experimental
apparatus involving optical, electrical, chemical and mechanical components.
The available optical and electrical equipment includes an ellipsometer, HeNe and
CO2 lasers, optical tables, Michelson interferometer, 2D optical filter (patented),
various spectrometers (UV-NIR), oscilloscopes, and power supplies from low DC to 40
kV, RF sources, DMMs and delay frequency generators.
LAMSAT also houses a variety of equipment for chemical work such as furnaces and hot
plates, fume hoods, glove box, stock of common chemicals, hot water bath, centrifuges,
precision balance, and die-punch-cold press assembly for target preparation.
A varied collection of spare parts for building high vacuum systems are also available
such as pressure sensors, various cryogenic systems, LN2 cold traps, turbomolecular
and roughing pumps...
Facilities available outside LAMSAT
LAMSAT members can access a wide range of experimental facilities for materials characterization at collaborating labs in the Department of Physics and external facilities (NERC, CIFM, FCAST, FML, MAIC at UF):
• Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) at FML, USF
• Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) at NERC, USF
• Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Biology, USF
• High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscope (HR-TEM) at NERC, USF
• Focused Ion Beam (FIB) milling at NERC, USF
• Clean room and lithographic facilities at NERC, USF
